During the arguments for framing charges against Sukhbir Badal and five other accused, including former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, in the court of District and Sessions Judge in the Kotkapura police firing case, the counsel for Sukhbir here today accused the SIT of falsely projecting the non-existent incriminating circumstances as reliable material to substantiate the charges of conspiracy against the SAD chief.

Senior advocate RS Cheema claimed that the SIT’s allegations of Sukhbir being close to Dera Sacha Sauda head were without any basis. Allegations of interference in the investigation of sacrilege cases on the directions of Sukhbir to maintain his bonhomie with the dera head was a bundle of lies, he claimed.

The next hearing in the case will be on March 11.
