The 16-year-old victim from the Chamkaur Sahib area had been missing from her home since April 4 and the local police had recovered her from Jabbar Singh in Mohali district. After recovering her on July 30, the policemen took her to Chamkaur Sahib, from where she was taken to Ropar to hand her over the Child Line officials. The victim alleged while on the way to Ropar, two of the four policemen present in a police vehicle molested her.

The SSP said an SIT comprising SP Ankur Gupta, DSP Ucee Chawla and Inspector Jasmine Kaur would conduct an inquiry and submit the report at the earliest. — TNS
