Situation at Ludhiana’s Sasrali critical; administration issues advisory

The district administration has issued an advisory as the situation at Sasrali village is critical and the flow of the water can damage the bundh anytime.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said the situation at Sasrali village near the Sutlej river dam remains critical due to a strong flow of water. Though efforts are being made to protect and strengthen the dam, if there is a breach or damage in the dam, Sasrali, Bunt, Rawat, Hwas, Seeza, Boothgarh and Mangli villages may be affected. There is also a risk of being surrounded by water.

Instructions for locals

• Be alert and keep an eye on the circumstances.
• If your house has two floors, stay on the first floor.
• If you live in a low-lying area or a single-storey house, vacate the house for a short period. Go to a safe place.
• Keep your important documents and items in water-resistant bags in case the need arises. Can be taken along immediately.
• Take the elderly, children and sick people to safe places first.

Rescue centres

Rescue centres have been set up by the district administration, where people can go. These are Rahon Road, Gaunsgarh, Satsang Ghar; Chandigarh Road, Mundian, Satsang Ghar; Tibba Road Satsang Ghar; Kailash Nagar Satsang Ghar; Radha Soami Centre near Sasrali village; Khasi Kalan market; Khasi Kalan school; Bhukri school; Mattewaza school; and Mattewada market.
