The accused had looted around Rs 8,000 and four-five mobile phones at gunpoint from Green Hotel along the Bathinda-Bhucho road on March 11. Acting on intelligence inputs that the suspects were spotted in the Bhucho Mandi area, multiple police teams launched a search operation, he added.

During the operation, the police spotted a suspicious vehicle with a Bathinda registration number. As the officers approached the vehicle, a criminal opened fire. In retaliatory firing, suspect Satnam Singh sustained a gunshot wound on the leg. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment. All six gang members were arrested.
