They also sought cancellation of FIRs in stubble-burning cases and immediate relief for farmers and labourers affected by floods and heavy rain. The SKM leaders claimed memorandums were submitted to the DCs or officers concerned across the state on Monday. They said over 59 lives were lost and extensive agricultural damage had occurred due to floods, crop diseases, and weather conditions. They also cited a drastic fall in paddy yield by 8-10 quintals per acre owing to “haldi” and “dwarf” diseases.
The memorandum listed several demands, including Rs 40,000 per acre compensation for completely damaged crops, Rs 500 per quintal bonus for yield loss, and Rs 7,000 per acre or Rs 200 per quintal cash assistance for stubble management as per National Green Tribunal and Supreme Court directions.
