Suspected drug smugglers who had gone to pick a consignment of heroin from near the India-Pakistan border in Fazilka reportedly fired shots at BSF men. BSF troops retaliated and arrested two of them.

Heroin packets and illegal weapons were seized from them. The matter is currently being investigated.

According to information, BSF personnel had information that two suspicious persons were seen near Tahliwala village. After arresting the duo, the BSF men seized a China-made pistol, one magazine and four live cartridges from them.

After quizzing the suspects, BSF personnel later seized about 550 gm heroin from their possession. Those arrested were identified as Sukhdev of Naubahran tehsil Guruharsahai and Kulwinder Singh of Hazara Ram Singh Wala in Fazilka.
