Cadet Kusum Rani of 6 Punjab Girls NCC Battalion, based at Malout, stood first in Snap Shooting competition in All India Thal Sainik Camp (AITSC) held recently at New Delhi.

She represented Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh directorate. Kusum won two gold medals in the individual category. Her team also ranked first.

On her return, she was accorded a grand reception at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School. NCC Commanding Officer Colonel Ranveer Singh welcomed Kusum and presented her gold medals.

Kusum said she had participated in the inter-group competition (IGC) in the past as well. She said she worked hard and won two gold medals. Apart from this, Kusum got a cash reward of Rs 5,000.

She gave the credit of her success to Principal Sunita Bilandi and Associate NCC Officer Supneet Kaur, besides her parents who encouraged her on each step.
