The Punjab Government has issued a notification on the Punjab Water Resources (Management and Regulation) Act, 2020, paving the way for the constitution of the Punjab Water Regulation and Development Authority.

The objective is to ensure development, management and conservation of water resources of the state in accordance with the Integrated State Water Plan.

The authority will be empowered to issue directions and guidelines for the conservation and management of water resources, besides issuing tariff orders specifying the charges to be imposed by entities supplying water for drinking, domestic, commercial and industrial use. — TNS
