Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Monday said the state was likely to contribute over 124 lakh metric tonne (LMT) of wheat to the central pool on account of bumper yield.

The minister said 102 LMT wheat had already been procured and Rs 18,000 crore paid to farmers collectively.

The minister made the remarks inspecting the Sirhind grain market.

Kataruchak was accompanied by Fatehgarh Sahib legislator Lakhbir Singh Rai, Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind and market committee chairman Gurwinder Singh Dhillon.
