Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said reverse migration was being witnessed in Punjab as the youth were returning from abroad to join government jobs in the state.

Addressing a gathering while handing over appointment letters to 417 youth at the local Municipal Bhawan, the CM said the state government had so far handed over appointment letters to 44,667 persons in various departments.

He said the recruitment was made purely on merit by adopting a transparent process. He said the faith of the youth in the working of the state government had increased due to which they were preparing for government jobs here, instead of moving abroad.

He said if more than 44,000 jobs could be given in the past two-and-half years, why that was not done over the last 75 years. He said various parties criticised him on one issue or the other, but they never praised him for his exemplary work. Opposition leaders might go on criticising him, but he would continue working in the interest of Punjab and Punjabis.

Assailing the Badal family and Captain Amarinder Singh, he said these leaders ruled the state for a fairly long period, but they did nothing for the welfare of people. It was unfortunate that they misused power for their vested interests, he said.

He said it was paradoxical that Akali leaders were seeking pardon from Akal Takht without naming the sin for which it was being done.
