Student found dead in university hostel room

The body of Punjabi University’s B.Pharma first-year student Shubham was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his hostel room. The police started a probe into the incident after receiving information from the university authorities.
The victim was a resident of Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh and had taken admission in the university earlier this year.

The police said they had informed his parents about the incident and were prima facie treating it as suicide. “When we entered the hostel room, his body was found hanging from the ceiling fan and the door was locked from inside. We have questioned some of his friends,” the police added.
