Party spokesperson Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal held a meeting with his senior colleagues and decided to dissolve the core committee. The meeting also discussed the impending four byelections.

The party is facing a serious revolt within the party, with several leaders gathering under the convenorship of Gurpartap Wadala to seek the removal of Sukhbir Badal as SAD president and bring the party under a collegium.

The rebels had also written a letter to the Akal Takht seeking action against the Badal family for taking several decisions that proved disastrous for the Sikh Panth.
