Suspected spy held in Bathinda
The police on Tuesday arrested another suspected spy operating at the Bathinda Army Cantonment. The suspect, identified as Raqeeb of Roorkee in Uttarakhand, was employed as a tailor at the cantonment and is alleged to have been spying for Pakistan.
Cantonment officials grew suspicious about Raqeeb’s activities and reported the matter to the police. He was arrested and an FIR registered against him. His phone has been seized and sent for forensic examination.
SP (City) Narinder Singh said Raqeeb had been working there for the past two years. He used to live in a shop within the cantonment area. “What type of information he has shared through his phone will be known only after the forensic report is received,” he said.
This is the second case of espionage reported from the cantonment. Earlier, the police had arrested a cobbler for espionage.
