DIG (Jails) Lakhwinder Singh Jakhar on Sunday submitted his resignation claiming that he was doing so protest against the contentious farm laws.

Jakhar said he would join the farmers’ protest. ADGP (Jails) P K Sinha confirmed the development.

The government is yet to accept the resignation.

Jakhar was suspended a few months ago for allegedly taking money from jail officials on a monthly basis. He was re-instated later.
