The Faridkot police on Tuesday claimed to have busted two modules involved in targeted killings. During routine checking, CIA staff intercepted a car near the Sirhind canal here, said SSP Dr Pragya Jain. Jagatinder Singh, alias Sonu, Jashanpreet Singh, alias Jassa, and Manpreet Singh, alias Armaan, were arrested and two .30-bore pistols and 15 live cartridges seized from them.

They were allegedly planning a targeted killing and had already made an unsuccessful attempt earlier.

In another operation, the police arrested Thomas Robert and seized two 9 mm pistols, suspected be part of an illegal arms consignment smuggled from Pakistan meant for a major crime in the district.

The SSP said the police had arrested nine accused in four cases of possessing illegal arms last week. Four country-made pistols, magazines and live cartridges were seized from them.
