The Joint Teachers Front (Punjab) here today announced gherao of Cabinet ministers’ residences on July 4, besides holding a state-level dharna on August 1 in Sangrur if the state government failed to fulfil their demands.

This was announced by front conveners Vikramdev Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, Balkar Singh Valtoha, Harjeet Singh Basota and Baljit Singh Salana during a dharna in front of the Punjab School Education Board building here over their demands.

They alleged the Education Secretary was promoting online education system due to which primary schools had been closed down, resulting in the abolition of 1,904 posts of head teacher and thousands others in the state. — TNS
