MLA Arora honoured the 19-year-old artiste for her achievements in music and digital media, acknowledging her as an inspiration for young women in Punjab who aspire to turn their talent into success.
Earlier, AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also the party’s Punjab in-charge, had shared Param’s viral song “That Girl” on social media, describing her as the “new voice of Punjab” and highlighting her “story of struggle”. His post drew widespread attention to the young singer’s journey and background.
Hailing from Dunneke village in Moga district, Param comes from a modest family. Her father, Surjit Singh, works as a daily-wage labourer with local masons, while her mother, Jaspal Kaur, is employed as a domestic help, tending to livestock and doing household chores for nearby farmers. Param completed her schooling in Moga and is currently studying at DM College, Moga. She is the second among the four siblings.
Param began singing at an early age and started producing short music reels for social media about a year ago. Her debut single “That Girl”, produced by UK-based Manni Sandhu and directed by Tru Makers, went viral shortly after release, garnering millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes.
The track, celebrated for its empowering message of female independence and self-confidence, has positioned Param as a rising voice in contemporary Punjabi pop culture. Before this breakthrough, she had featured in a song by a well-known singer, but that video was never released.
Since her rapid rise to fame, Param has been focusing on developing her singing career while maintaining a low public profile. Her family, proud yet protective, now speaks on her behalf as she navigates her new journey in music.
