Unidentified miscreants targeted at least 20 solar energy systems in two villages of Balluana Assembly constituency last night. They stole the wires of solar systems installed in the fields of dozens of farmers, whose value is said to be worth lakhs of rupees. In the morning, as soon as the farmers came to know about the theft in their respective fields, they informed the Sadar police station. A team led by ASI Lekhraj visited the affected fields and started an investigation.

Thieves cut the copper wires of solar plants installed in the fields which used to run water motors. The value of the wire stolen from each solar energy system is around Rs 25,000

Farmers Sarbjit Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Sunny Nagpal and Paramjeet of village Bahadur Khera and Malukpura said that thieves have targeted more than 20 solar systems in the two villages. Thieves have cut the copper wires of the solar plants installed in the fields which used to run water motors. The value of the wire stolen from each solar system is around Rs 25,000.

In Bahadur Khera, farmers Satwant Singh, Ranjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Tejinder Singh, Ajit Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Gurcharan Singh and in Malukpura, farmers Tilak Raj, Tej Prakash, Inderjeet Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Sukhwinder Kumar, Surinder Singh, Sukhchain Singh and Arshdeep Singh were among the victims.

Earlier some miscreants had stolen copper wires and other equipment from some mobile phone towers and transformers in some villages in Abohar area.
