The Faridkot police have arrested three persons in connection with the killing of a member of the Behbal Kalan Insaaf Morcha. Gurpreet Singh of Hari Nau village here was shot dead by four bike-borne assailants on October 9.

One of the three assailants has been identified as Bilal Ahmed, an Army jawan. He was arrested in connection with an extortion case earlier. After around 40 days, he was released from the Faridkot central jail and hours thereafter, he allegedly killed Gurpreet Singh.

Bilal and two other alleged assailants, identified as Gurmandeep Singh, alias Pontu and Arshdeep Singh, alias Jhandu, are residents of Hari Nau village.

On September 1, the Kotkapura police in Faridkot had arrested two Army jawans, including Bilal Ahmed, for the alleged offence of running an extortion racket.
