Three persons of two fertiliser firms were booked under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act and Section 420 of the IPC today for selling DAP and urea fertiliser on the black market in Jalalabad town of Fazilka district.

On the basis of a complaint, the police recovered 1,852 bags of DAP and more than 5,000 bags of urea from the alleged unauthorised godowns belonging to the firms. A large number of farmers and Municipal Council president Vikasdeep Chaudhary staged a protest outside the City police station demanding arrest of the accused. The police officials reached the dharna site and sought two days to nab the accused. — OC
