SSP Amneet Kondal said a few days ago, two bike-borne persons had snatched Rs 10,000 and a mobile phone from the staff of a liquor store at a gunpoint in the Cantonment area.

She said they received a tip-off that the accused involved in the incident were hiding at a house of Rohit Kumar, alias Pepsi, in Parasram Nagar.

The SSP said Inspector Sukhpreet Singh and his team found two youngsters at Pepsi’s house. As he tried to question them, one of them pulled out a pistol and fired at Inspector Sukhpreet Singh, said Kondal, adding that the three fled the scene on a bike.
