Three members of a family were killed in a road accident near Noorpur Jattan village on the Garhshankar-Adampur Bist Doab Canal road in Garhshankar subdivision of this district today. The deceased were identified as Gurnam Singh (45), a resident of Manewal village in Balachaur, his wife Varinder Kaur (42) and daughter Seerat (7). They were going to attend a wedding in Paldi village when a speeding truck collided head-on with their car. Varinder Kaur died on the spot, while Gurnam and Seerat, who were seriously injured, were taken to the Banga Civil Hospital by passersby where they passed away during treatment. The truck driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind. ASI Surjit Singh of the Saila Khurd police outpost said they have seized both vehicles and started an investigation into the incident.
