Dera Bassi, November 15

Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait today met farm union leaders at the Dappar toll plaza and asked them to mobilise support for the November 26 protest at the Delhi border.

Tikait, accompanied by BKU (Lakhowal) general secretary Harinder Singh Lakhowal and others leaders, said a ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ would be held in Lucknow on November 22, which would be “historic”.

“At the ‘kisan mahapanchayat’, we would seek justice for the farmers killed at Lakhimpur Khiri,” he said.

To mark one year of the ongoing farmers’ protest at the Delhi border, Tikait asked farmers to reach the Singhu and Tikri borders by November 26. The union members also discussed their plans for the farmers’ march towards Parliament from the Delhi border during the winter session beginning November 29.
