The possibility of a formation of unified forum of farmers has yet again hit a roadblock after leaders of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-political) said the time of meetings was over and it was time to act.

The development took place hours after SKM leaders, including BKU (Ugrahan) chief Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Darshan Pal and BKU (Rajewal) chief Balbir Singh Rajewal, reached the Khanauri border and met Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a fast-unto-death. They met him for over 15 minutes.

Later, they invited SKM (Non-political) leaders for a meeting on January 15. The two forums also held a joint press conference.

However, soon after the joint meet, SKM (Non-political) leaders, including Abhimanyu Kohar, Kaka Singh Kotra, Baldev Singh Sirsa and Sukhjit Singh Hardojhande, addressed another conference. They said the time was running out as health of Dallewal was deteriorating and it was time to act.

Kotra said, “I appreciate the visit of SKM leaders, but I will urge them to reconsider their decision of a meeting on January 15. We want their support in whichever manner possible. It is up to them whether they want to offer symbolic support or want to join the morcha.”
