Following the NGT ban, Delhi-based firecracker dealers are dumping their stocks in Punjab. The wholesalers in Punjab are reportedly being offered heavy discount, in addition to the doorstep delivery for bulk orders. The prices of branded crackers have already dipped by over 20 per cent.

A Delhi-based wholesaler said they were eyeing states where firecrackers had not been banned. “We have to clear our stocks to cut losses,” he said. Meanwhile, the air quality in Punjab has dipped from “moderate” to “poor” in the last two weeks following high number of farm fire incidents. inside
