Fatehgarh Sahib, July 19

Newly appointed PPCC working president and local MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra today said the decision to appoint Navjot Singh Sidhu as the state unit chief was taken after several days of discussions and the party high command identified the ground reality and honoured the sentiment of the party rank and file.

Speaking to mediapersons after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, he said there were differences of opinion in parties and issues were discussed and debated, but the decision of the majority prevailed. “Sidhu’s elevation has enthused the cadre, who were in a defensive mode earlier,” he said.

Nagra said the PPCC under Sidhu’s leadership would contest the upcoming Assembly elections with greater strength and preparation would begin immediately by strengthening the party at the grassroots. “Suggestions and grievances of every worker will be heard and they will be assigned specific tasks,” said Nagra.

He added party leaders, right from the top to bottom would present a united face during the elections. Earlier, Nagra was honoured by Congress workers and residents of his constituency during a function.
