A toy shop owner committed suicide in the basement of his shop at a market in Sriganganagar, yesterday evening.

Arvind Bairad, DSP, and Shambhu Dayal, Sub Inspector, reached the market and found the body of Lalit Mohan Narula (39), owner of Gurunanak Traders and a resident of Durga Vihar, hanging. Earlier, the victim’s son had noticed that the shutter of the shop was closed from inside. He knocked, but his father did not respond. He informed the Jawaharnagar police station.

According to the Sub Inspector, a diary was found in Lalit’s pocket, in which he blamed Rajesh Kalra, Sonu Sharma and Monu Sharma for abetting his suicide, as they had allegedly not repaid the amount borrowed from him, despite repeated demands.

A case has been registered under Section 306 of the IPC against the three persons, on the statement of Pawan Narula, the victim’s brother.
