Jalandhar, February 13

Amid the ongoing investigation into the gross negligence at the Phagwara blood bank, unidentified miscreants broke into the blood bank on Tuesday night. The door was found open and one of the entrance panels was broken. The authorities of the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, have lodged a police complaint.

Even as the blood transfusion officer and the SMO of the blood bank have already been suspended and an FIR lodged against the blood transfusion officer and lab technician for criminal negligence, the duo is still at large.

Civil Surgeon, Phagwara, Dr Jasmeet Kaur Bawa said, “We have reported the matter to the police. The footage and photographs of the spot have been forwarded to them. So far, the identity of the person(s) is not known. We are also looking into whether any records are missing. The police are investigating the matter.”

Bawa added, “A detailed inquiry is being conducted and all records will be checked new.”

SHO, Phagwara city police station, Onkar Singh said, “Following a complaint, an inquiry is being conducted after which, we will file an FIR. The identity of the miscreants is not known yet.”
