Two days after a jeweller was shot at and robbed in Zira, the police have arrested two of the three persons allegedly involved in the incident.

The suspects were identified as Harjit Singh, alias Jeetu, and Sanmukh Singh, alias Sunny, both from Patti in Tarn Taran district.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said sleuths of the Crime Investigation Agency, Anti Gangster Task Force and the Zira police had received inputs about the suspects following which a special naka was laid. “The accused, who were riding a bike used in the crime, opened fire on seeing cops. The police returned fire. One of the bullets hit Harjit in a leg. Sanmukh got injured as he fell off the bike,” he said.
