Amneet Kondal, SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib, has suspended and booked ASIs Jagdeep Singh and Sajjan Singh posted at the CIA staff, Sirhind, under Sections 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on the complaint of Chanderpal of Mandi Gobindgarh. Both police officers are absconding and have been marked absent.

The SSP said few days ago Chanderpal had complained to her that ASIs Jagdeep Singh and Sajjan Singh raided the house of his brother Parma Shankar and recovered 37 boxes of liquor and threatened to implicate his brother and nephew in the case. He alleged that they demanded Rs 50,000 to spare them and also promised to return 15 boxes of liquor. The deal was struck at Rs 25,000. He claimed that they registered an FIR under the Excise Act and showed recovery of 22 boxes only. The complaint demanded that Rs 25,000 and 15 boxes of liquor should be returned.

The SSP said she had marked an enquiry to know the version of the police personnel. She said summons were sent to their residences, but their family members refused to take them. She said after getting a report from the SP (Investigation), it was decided to mark them absent from duty and they were suspended.
