The police arrested two residents of Abohar near Halimwala village in Jalalabad on Tuesday for carrying an unlicensed pistol, a magazine and a live cartridge.

Jalalabad DSP Jatinder Singh Gill said SHO Angrej Kumar of the Arniwala police station caught the accused during patrolling.

The suspects were identified as Shampy of Ajit Nagar and Shanty of Arya Nagar in Abohar. The DSP said the local court had granted them two days of police remand for questioning. The duo would be questioned about the seller of the weapons and the accused’s intentions behind the purchase.
