Abohar, January 12

The police in Sriganganagar seized 480 gm of smack by intercepting a Honda City car that entered the border town from Abohar side on Sunday. Two occupants of the car were nabbed near the railway over bridge on the Weather Department office road while a woman and her accomplice reportedly fled, Jawahar Nagar police station incharge Prashant Kaushik said.

The police said Jaipal (45) and Deenbandhu Gaurav (40) were held under the NDPS Act, Jaipal’s daughter-in-law Usha and accomplice Mangu were also named in the FIR. Purani Abadi police station incharge Ranjit Ram will carry custodial investigation.

In the preliminary investigation, the accused reportedly claimed to have purchased the consignment, packed in polythene, from a gang of Nigerians for Rs5 lakh in Delhi on Saturday. The Delhi Police has been provided information on the location of the gang, the police said.
