The announcement was made by Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora, who also announced the formation of 15 sectoral committees.
These committees bring together experts from varied industries, serving as advisors to propose targeted policy recommendations for their respective sectors.
The retail sector committee will examine policies and frameworks from other relevant states across the country to develop a ‘best-in-class’ policy framework for Punjab.
Under Umang Jindal’s leadership, the core task of this committee is to provide the government with a structured set of inputs for a customised, industrial policy framework for the retail industry.
To achieve this, the Department of Industries and Commerce is embarking on a significant initiative to prepare customised transformational roadmaps for key industrial sectors of Punjab. This effort is designed to be truly collaborative and impactful, built upon extensive consultations with the industry stakeholders.
Arora said, “The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, is dedicated to fostering a progressive ecosystem for industrial growth, innovation and sustainability, alongside robust employment generation.”
Expressing his delight, Jindal said, “It is an honour to be entrusted with this role. The retail landscape in Punjab is undergoing a transformative shift, driven by evolving consumer aspirations and the need for more experiential, community-centric spaces. I look forward to contributing meaningfully to this journey and helping shape a more vibrant, organised, and future-ready retail ecosystem across Punjab.”
Jindal’s appointment comes at a time when Punjab’s urban centres are witnessing a growing demand for curated retail experiences. The announcement marks a proud moment for the real estate fraternity, acknowledging Jindal’s progressive leadership and unwavering commitment to organised growth in the region.
