Abohar, July 15

In addition to the mandated task of securing the International Border and securing the sense of security among the border population, BSF has made sincere efforts to reunite a lost person with his family.

According to the information available, on July 11, at 8:15 pm, an Indian national named Mohammad Sajid Ali, son of Alamdin and resident of village Khurgan, under police station Kairana in district Shamli (UP), was found near the border fence in the area of operation of BOP Khanpur by troops of BSF’s 55 Battalion. Sajid Ali had reportedly come to Punjab with a group of labourers from Uttar Pradesh to work here during paddy-sowing season. During questioning, it was discovered that he was partially feeble-minded.

Sajid Ali disclosed that he had become stranded and wandered towards the border area, mistaking the floodlights for a village or town.

The BSF officials contacted the local police station Kairana, in district Shamli, UP. The sarpanch of village Khurgan was contacted to verify the credentials of the apprehended individual who confirmed that Sajid Ali was partially feeble-minded and had been missing from his home for the past three months. The BSF then contacted his brother, Majid Ali, and asked him to come to Khui Khera police station on Abohar-Fazilka highway to retrieve his brother.

At 11:30 am on Sunday, in a noble deed, the BSF handed over the lost-person to his brother, Majid Ali, at Khui Khera police station in the presence of police personnel.
