The Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Constable Kanwarpal Singh, who is posted at the Nakodar (Rural) police station, for accepting Rs 49,800 bribe.

Lakhvinder Singh, a resident of Madrasa village, Muktsar, had lodged a complaint against Kanwarpal on the anti-corruption action line.

Lakhvinder stated that he worked as a security guard and had applied at the District Commander, Punjab Home Guard Office, Faridkot, in 2017, on compassionate grounds. He added that Kanwarpal demanded a bribe of Rs 6,50,000 in lieu of getting him recruited on the compassionate grounds. Lakhvinder alleged that he transferred Rs 49,800 into the account of the accused through PhonePe.
