Veer Naris, including Nirmala Devi, Kamla Devi, Rukmani Devi, Chotte Devi, Saman Kori Rajat, and Phool Wati, along with war veterans such as retired Colonels MS Gill (89), RS Sodhi (80), HS Gill, and Lieutenant Colonel Martin Khongman, were honoured during a solemn ceremony at Asafwala War Memorial on the second day of Vijay Diwas celebrations. Nearly 150 war veterans and family members of 60 martyrs’ families attended the event.

The Veer Naris, war veterans, and families of martyrs came from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to pay homage. Notably, 232 jawans and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) sacrificed their lives defending Fazilka during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
