Gurdaspur: The news of death of Manjeet Singh (29) of China village, near Naushera Majha Singh, while trying to save three Mexican children from drowning in California, came as a shock for local residents. Though he managed to save the kids, he was swept away by the gushing waters. His father Gurbaksh Singh received a call from one of son’s friends, informing him about the tragedy.
Manjit and his colleagues had gone to Reedley beach near his home in Fresno County where the incident happened. He had been taking driving lessons. Rebel SAD leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa visited the family and assured them that he would talk to the Centre on the possibility of bringing the body home.
