DSP Sukh Pal Singh said the accused had been identified as Puanjit Kaur, alias Preet, alias Pinki, a resident of Chhota Rayya, Amritsar.

Complainant Simran, a resident of Patti Mehanna, said the accused was her cousin. She said Pinki, who went to Oman, asked to join her. The complainant said she reached Oman on April 26, 2023, where a man and a woman took her to their house and kept her passport.

Simran said she was often forced to work and kept hungry. The complainant said she somehow managed to flee and wrote to the Indian Embassy about her plight. She said MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney helped her in getting her passport back and return to India.
