A woman among four persons have been arrested in separate cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

A patrolling team of the Chabbewal police station stopped a car on suspicion and recovered 21 gm of heroin from it. The three occupants of the car were arrested. They were identified as Viren Rai, a resident of Rakkad Colony Una, Pankaj Puri, a resident of Masit Wali Gali Una, and Gurpreet Singh, alias Raju, a resident of Nonitpur.

The police have impounded the car. A case was registered in this regard.

Phone seized in Hoshiarpur jail

The Central Jail administration recovered a mobile phone from near a barrack. In a complaint to the police, Sukhwinder Ram, an assistant superintendent in the jail, stated that during a surprise checking of the jail premises, a keypad phone was found hidden in clothes lying outside barrack number 20. A case has been registered in this regard at the City police station.

In another case, the Tanda police stopped a woman at a naka and found her carrying a large quantity of banned pills. The suspect was identified as Reena, a resident of ward No. 8, Tanda.

Meanwhile, cops from the City police station recovered 15 boxes of liquor hidden in a well following a tip-off. Mahender Singh Dolike of Sundarpur district in Jalandhar, who is alleged to be a smuggler, has been arrested in the case.
