A woman from Ballran village (Moonak) was duped of Rs 11 lakh by four persons on the pretext of sending her to Australia. A case in this regard has been registered under Sections 420 and 406 of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professionals (Regulation) Act, 2014, at the Moonak police station.

On the complaint of one Sandeep Kaur, the police have booked Surjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Rachhpal Singh, and Gurdip Singh. In the complaint, the woman had alleged that she had been cheated for Rs 11 lakh by these persons on the pretext of sending her to Australia.

Moonak SHO Inspector Sukhdeep Singh said the case had been registered against the four persons. However, no one has been arrested in this case so far. The SHO said an investigation into the matter was in progress, he added. — OC
