Police said on Sunday that Rajwinder Kaur (60) of Chak 1-C village, has been arrested, her daughter Jagwant Kaur is also wanted in the case. Rajwinder’s sons Pradeep Singh and Ranveer Singh are in Punjab Police. However, the sons have not been indicted.

Complainant Gurdeep said in his statement that his son Ramandeep Singh (23) had appeared in the Punjab Police recruitment exam held in 2021. He said Pradeep, his sister Jagwant and their mother Rajwinder came to his house and asked him to arrange Rs 3.5 lakh to get Ramandeep recruited to Punjab Police. They asked him to arrange the money and pay before March 8, 2022.

Gurdeep claimed that Pradeep called him and asked him to deliver the money to his mother and sister, which he did.

When Ramandeep did not get a job even after more than a year, Gurdeep contacted Pradeep’s brother Ranveer.

Ranveer reportedly called Gurdeep to Abohar on February 2, 2024, where Rajwinder and Jagwant were also present. When he asked them to return the money, Rajwinder said Ramandeep’s name was on the waiting list and it might take him a few years to get the job.

Gurdeep claimed that the family refused to return the money.

Investigating official Pyarelal said Rajwinder had been arrested and efforts were on to nab the daughter.
