The Punjab State Women Commission today issued a show-cause notice to former CM Charanjit Singh Channi, asking him to reply within 24 hours for his alleged derogatory statement against women and various communities. Channi had made the remarks while campaigning in favour of Congress candidate Amrita Warring at Gidderbaha on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the BJP, AAP and the SAD have condemned Channi’s statement. AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon said, “Channi used offensive language against various communities and women. I am surprised that when Amrita was standing beside Channi, why did she not stop him.”
