Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday slammed revenue officials, saying his government cannot give them the “licence to indulge in corruption”.

He said if required, powers will be given to teachers and professors to run the offices. “These officers harass the common man on a daily basis. This will no longer be tolerated and the government will take strict action against them," he said.

‘Will hire more officials’

“We will hire more officials. Let them go on leave,” he said outside the tehsil office in Kharar.

Mann also said the state government will recruit new revenue officers in coming days, the agenda for which will be placed before the Cabinet.

The CM said in next 10 days, he would be inspecting tehsil offices across the state and ensure that the official work was carried out smoothly.

At Kharar, Mann inspected the functioning of the office and said three SDMs, two kanungo, two senior assistants have been delegated powers so that the public was not inconvenienced.
