A youth at Govindsar village in Sriganganagar allegedly stabbed his 66-year-old father to death after the latter scolded him for consuming liquor.

Rakesh had reportedly consumed alcohol while returning home from a religious fair. That led to an altercation between him and his father Lekh Ram Jat. Rakesh went to sleep in his room. Around midnight, he came out of the room and stabbed Lekh Ram to death.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
