Ferozepur, December 19

In a major boost to Zira and surrounding border areas, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi laid the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 87 crore in Zira sub-division today.

The projects included construction of a civil hospital (Rs 50 crore), administrative complex ( Rs 12 crore), new bus stand at Makhu (Rs 6.50 crore) and an ITI in the name of Late Jathedar Inderjit Singh Zira, the father of Zira MLA Kulbir Singh.

The CM also announced the upgrade of Mallanwala block as sub-tehsil and Rs 1 crore for the construction of new stadium at Zira, besides he further announced Rs 10 crore for the cleaning of drainage system in the Makhu area.

Addressing the gathering, he also lashed out at the Opposition, saying the political system had come out of the royal households. “Now we are looking for the creation of new Punjab,” he said, stressing the SAD was being ruined by the combination of Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikramjit Singh Majithia, and AAP had no vision for the border state.

The CM was accompanied by Jasbir Singh Dimpa, MP Khadoor Sahib; Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA Ferozepur (Urban); Satkar Kaur Gehri, MLA Ferozepur (Rural); Kulbir Singh, MLA Zira; Barindermeet Singh Pahra, MLA Gurdaspur; Dr Harjot Kamal, MLA Moga; Dharambir Agnihotri, MLA Tarn Taran; and Darshan Singh Brar, MLA Baghapurana; among others.
