Rajasthan Police’s AGTF arrests 6 of Rohit Godara and Virender Charan gangs

The newly formed Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Rajasthan Police has arrested six miscreants belonging to the Rohit Godara and Virender Charan gangs in the Gogamedi area of Hanumangarh. A 17-year-old minor was also detained. The team seized three foreign pistols with magazines, two empty magazines, and 70 live cartridges from their possession. According to the police, the miscreants were planning to carry out a major criminal incident.

Police sources revealed that Rohit Godara, originally named Rawat Ram Swami, was a mobile technician who later became a feared gangster. He hails from Lunkaransar and has been named in over 35 criminal cases, including murder and extortion. Virender Charan, a top criminal from Bikaner, had allegedly arranged shooters and weapons for the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.

Hanumangarh SP, Hari Shankar, informed the media that the AGTF team had surrounded the miscreants hiding in the area around Ramgarh Ujjalwas village. The arrested individuals include Vikas alias Raju alias Pawan alias Shooter Jat of Ujjalwas, a history-sheeter with over a dozen cases registered against him for murder, assault, possession of illegal weapons, extortion, and robbery.

Other arrested individuals include Rajesh Jat (22) of Chaharwala, Sirsa; Raju Ram Jat (22), Parth Rathore (20), and Rupinder Jat (20), residents of Jaitpur; and Mukesh Nayak (19) of Purbasar, Pallu. Additionally, a 17-year-old minor from Sriganganagar’s Ghamurwali area was also apprehended. All these miscreants are active members of the Rohit Godara and Virender Charan gangs, involved in arms smuggling and other criminal activities.

The SP stated that the police had received information about suspected criminals hiding near Ramgarh Ujjalwas village and engaged in arms dealing. Acting promptly, police station in-charge Sub-Inspector Lal Bahadur, along with his team, apprehended these miscreants who were roaming suspiciously on the roadside near Ramgarh village. During the operation, the miscreants attempted to escape, resulting in injuries to three of them. The team recovered weapons from the scene, and further investigation will provide further insights during the remand.
