English elocution contest at JPS Academy, Nissing

The academy organised an English Elocution Competition for students of classes VI to XII. The competition was divided into two groups: Group A for classes VI to VIII and Group B for classes IX to XII. The students participated enthusiastically and expressed their views on various topics such as the “Impact of technology on our lives”, “The magic of friendship”, “Benefits of outdoor games”, “Power of empathy”, “Role of education in shaping our future”, etc. In Group A, Bhavika from Class VIII-Ganges, Sargun from Class VII, Yaman from Class VI secured the first position. In Group B, Parneet from Class XII, Brahamjot from Class XI, Akshita from Class X, and Udayan from Class IX secured the first position.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
