Srijan – An Institute of Creativity in association with DAV Public School, Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, organised ‘Kavyadhara’, an inter-school poetry recitation competition to mark the 89th birth anniversary of the renowned poet and educationist, Late Dr DS Gupt. Sixteen leading schools from across the Tricity participated in the event. Santosh Garg, vice-president of the Akhil Bhartiya Sahitya Parishad, Haryana, was the chief guest, while Parkash Chander Sharma was the guest of honour. Eminent poets and writers Dr Nirmal Sood and Annu Rani Sharma judged the competition. The event was conducted by Sunita Gaur and Uma Nijhawan. Participants recited soulful compositions penned by Dr DS Gupt. In the the Junior Category, Reet Dhandha (St Xavier’s, Panchkula) secured the first position, followed by Rajat Sharma (DAV, Sec-39, Chandigarh) and Shanaya Trehan (Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sec-15, Panchkula). Jaspreet Kaur (Shaheen Public School, Maloya) received the consolation prize. In the Senior Category, Arshita Sachdeva (Chaman Lal DAV, Sec-11, Panchkula) clinched the first position, while Jayesha Singh (CL Aggarwal School, Sec-7, Chandigarh) and Prachi (DAV Sec-8C, Chandigarh) won the second and third positions, respectively. Jitesh (Kailash Bahl DAV School) received the consolation award. The Team Trophy was lifted by DAV Public School, Sector 39, Chandigarh. Prizes were awarded by Santosh Garg, Principal Mantoshpal Singh, and Somesh Gupta, president of Srijan.
