Members of the Preschools Association of Ludhiana appealed to the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner today to allow preschools to reopen from April 1.

The members said preschools should be allowed to reopen as it was now of utmost importance to safeguard the existence of early-childhood education community.

“Schooling provides essential learning and when preschools are shut down, young kids are deprived of the opportunities for growth and development. The disadvantages are disproportionate for underprivileged learners, who tend to have fewer educational opportunities beyond school,” the members said.

They added: “If cinema halls, malls, dance classes, gyms, yoga centres and tuition centres have not been shut down and are operating under restrictions, the Preschools Association also propose to be given Covid-appropriate guidelines to ensure the safety and health of the children. We will adhere to those SOPs and are ready to operate preschools under restrictions.”
