Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh, conducted a workshop on World Population Day. The workshop was organised in collaboration with the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) and aimed at sensitising students to the growing concerns related to population and the legal provisions available for citizens, especially women, under the Indian legal framework. The session was facilitated by interns from SLSA — Khushbu from the Universal Institute of Law, Simranjot Kaur and Mehak, both from the Chandigarh Group of Colleges. The facilitators shared insightful information about the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and State Legal Services Authority (SLSA). They also discussed the SAKHI Helpline, introduced the concept of Moot Court, and elaborated on women’s legal rights and the provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Principal Dr Praveena John Singh appreciated the session and emphasised that such workshops play a vital role in raising awareness among students.
